Saindo da cidade de São Tomé comece por visitar o Memorial dos Heróis da Liberdade de São Tomé, que presta homenagem aos – pensa-se mais de mil - mortos do Massacre de Batepá, de 1953. Talvez este seja o mais sofrido episódio da história do país, que ocorreu na sequência da revolta dos são-tomenses na procura pela independência.
Prestada a homenagem, siga caminho pela Praia do Governador, pela Praia dos Tamarindos e pela Lagoa Azul, um local obrigatório para dar um mergulho. Nem sempre está azul, mas, com sorte, o sol ajuda.
Depois, viaje por uma das estradas mais bonitas do mundo, assim dizem os entendidos, até chegar ao Túnel de Santa Catarina. E se puder, pare e fotografe, pois, o enquadramento na paisagem, com palmeiras e coqueiros a ladear a estrada, é mesmo uma maravilha!
Paragem obrigatória é, também, Neves, uma pequena cidade. E porque, a esta altura, a fome já deve apertar, renda-se à petisqueira Santola onde, como o nome indica, pode almoçar uma santola acompanhada de uma rosema, a cerveja local, pão torrado e banana frita. Bom apetite!
