E, claro, a ilha de Alcatraz que pode ser vista de longe, de mais perto, num passeio de barco pela baía, ou visitada. Se lhe apetece espairecer da cidade e ir até ao campo, Napa Valley ou Sonoma Valley são excelentes opções! Estas zonas vinícolas têm um encanto especial com as suas vinhas todas alinhadas, sem pressa para deixar amadurecer as uvas. Fazer um passeio de balão ao amanhecer e ver de cima esta paisagem é uma experiência que jamais esquecerá!
Se estiver com tempo deixe-se ir pela estrada costeira que liga São Francisco a Los Angeles, quase sempre com vista para o Pacífico (que nem sempre o é). A passagem pelo Big Sur e Santa Barbara - a Riviera Americana, vale bem a pena!
Aqui notará que o ambiente é diferente. E apesar das montanhas de Santa Ynez, ao longe, o estilo de vida já é muito costeiro e orientado para a vida ao ar livre, à beira-mar, com o sol sempre presente.
