Quedas de água Seljalandsfoss e Skógafoss
Facilmente acessíveis a partir da “Ring Road”, as enormes quedas de água Seljalandsfoss e Skógafoss justificam o desvio. O rio que alimenta a Seljalandsfoss tem suas origens sob o glaciar Eyjafjallajökull. A cascata é estreita, mas muito alta, e conta com um trilho que dá uma volta 360º, permitindo a sua observação a partir de qualquer ângulo.
Vulcão Katla
A quarta maior calota de gelo da Islândia, a Mýrdalsjökull, esconde o mítico vulcão Katla nas suas profundezas. Este, cuja história regista que entra em erupção em intervalos de 50 anos a 80 anos, teve a sua última erupção em 1918. Ora a questão que se impõe é: até quando permanecerá em silêncio?... Para deixar todos os habitantes e visitantes descansados, os Institutos de Meteorologia e Vulcanologia da Islândia monitorizam, em permanência, todos os vulcões.
