Cairns é uma dessas cidades, considerada a porta de entrada da Grande Barreira de Coral. A partir daqui pode visitar Kuranda, uma povoação pitoresca de montanha. Vá de comboio tradicional e faça o regresso de teleférico, numa viagem fantástica por cima da floresta tropical. No Parque Natural de Daintree, um pouco mais afastado de Cairns, tem encontro marcado com a floresta tropical montanhosa, os desfiladeiros e praias e todas as atividades que fazem as delícias de quem vive para as aventuras. Já com um cheirinho a coral e maresia,Port Douglas é uma maravilha para os olhos! Esta cidade banhada pelo Mar de Coral tem paisagens magníficas dignas de postal. Aqui o que apetece mesmo é estar fora de portas, numa praia a mergulhar ou na floresta a viver aventuras emocionantes! Num registo entre o urbano e o selvagem pode visitar o Wildlife Habitat, um zoológico premiado, ou o Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures. De resto, desportos aquáticos como mergulho ou snorkeling, caminhadas por trilhos em plena natureza, observação da vida selvagem, passeios de barco e/ou helicóptero pela Grande Barreira de Coral ou, simplesmente, descansar são as atividades que vão ocupar os seus dias.
