Situadas em duas províncias distintas, embora vizinhas, estas duas regiões, localizadas a norte de Atenas têm, por isso, uma proximidade relativa, mas ambientes totalmente diferentes.
Enquanto a Calcídica é fundamentalmente uma região de praias e férias junto do mar, Metéora é, justamente, o oposto, numa região interior, onde as paisagens, também elas belíssimas, são maioritariamente de montanha, penhascos e rochas.
Halkidiki (Calcídica)
Situada no norte da Grécia, na região da Macedónia Central, Halkidiki ou, em português, a Calcídica, é uma região que, embora menos badalada dos que as ilhas situadas mais a sul, tem praias belíssimas e paisagens de sonho.
Isto em grande parte por causa das três penínsulas – Kassandra, Sithonia e Athos –onde não faltam locais perto do mar, no caso o Egeu, com muitas opções para desfrutar e divertir-se!
A primeira península, Kassandra, será a mais desenvolvida e é mais conhecida pelo turismo, festas e vida noturna; sempre muito animada e vibrante. Sinthonia, mais natural e descontraída, faz as delícias de quem prefere ambientes mais selvagens. Finalmente, Athos, está dedicada à vida espiritual, sendo reservada aos monges que ali residem. As mulheres não podem sequer entrar nesta península, pelo que a melhor forma de conhecer a área é à volta, de barco.
Se lhe apetecer um passeio urbano, Salónica ou Tessalónica é a segunda maior cidade da Grécia, e a mais próxima desta região, onde terá nascido o filósofo Aristóteles. Uma visita que vale a pena fazer!
Metéora
Situada no noroeste da Tessália, Metéora, Património Mundial da Unesco, é conhecida pelas suas paisagens de montanha e os seus mosteiros que parecem suspensos no ar. Uma imagem insólita, mas espetacular, o local perfeito para a vida espiritual. Mais próximo do céu não parece ser possível!
Ao todo seriam 24 mosteiros construídos nos topos das rochas – o primeiro deles em 1336! - mas hoje só existem praticamente metade e, desses, só metade podem ser visitados.
Uma vez aqui será impossível não pensar em como foi possível construir tudo isto. Terá sido obra de alguém, ou de alguma entidade maior? Uma dúvida que fica para cada um a responder à sua maneira. Seja como for, só olhar é bonito, pacífico e inspirador.
Para além, obviamente, da visita - por dentro e por fora - aos mosteiros, pode ainda aproveitar para se dedicar às atividades próprias de ambientes como estes, isto é, as caminhadas e passeios pelos trilhos disponíveis ou a observação da natureza e da vida animal onde não faltam lobos, falcões e águias.
Em tudo, e por tudo, uma viagem inesquecível que se afasta da imagem típica do imaginário grego, mas que não desilude. Muito pelo contrário!
